The Amazon app has long been the default way to send SMS messages, but a new version lets you sign up to a subscription to receive them automatically via SMS.
The update brings SMS-based email notifications to the app, and also adds support for a new type of SMS message: voice messages.
Amazon says voice messages will not work when the device is connected to the Internet, but the app will automatically send a message when your voice messages reach the receiver.
Voice messages are only available to Amazon Prime members, and they will be sent via text message only.
The app also has a new option for signing up for an AWS SMS account.
Amazon’s new SMS app is available in the Google Play Store.
